Recurring Themes.

Sometimes I find comfort in the things that I see all the time.
Like Mr. and Mrs. Chemung River Eagles.
I grab a shot immediately upon siting them.  Otherwise, they can decide to take flight, leaving me photoless.
So many animal chews (likely beaver) that I begin to think them harmless.

Think again.
Ellie "Michael Jackshund"  hugs the river wall more than ever.  For the warmth.

The Pileated Woodpecker is easily spotted.  It's as big as Ellie, and much noisier.
This is a rare lone merganser.  Why did he hang around?  The winters here are miserable.

But here he is, at least a week later.  I'll be watching for him during the bitter months to come.
