Middle of May

Pileated woodpecker working on a large tree on Foster Island.  This bird is just about the size of Ellie, the RiverDog, who weighs about 20 lbs.

These gulls are horning in on the nesting grounds of the Canada geese.  Maybe this will keep down the population of both species.

Ellie did NOT bring down this turkey, but she did hunt up the carcass for me.  It was on the walkway on the south bank of the Chemung.  I'll bet that that bird could tell a strange story.  It's turkey season here, so, what the heck?
